My excursions in the north have recently remained so short that I haven't been able to sink in the snow for real. Just made a little scratch of a track on the surface.
The latest trip to Finland just behind me, I am beginning to lose touch with different temperatures. From +30 to -20 or the other way round is simply too much for fast and efficient adaptation. My senses all confused, the coldest place, subjectively, during the trip was Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam, where I experienced some serious shivers. Perhaps it's in the very nature of airports that one is nearly always either sweaty or freezing.
